Sigh

Clearly, I'm doing something wrong...

Oh, I'm glad you posted this here. I couldn't figure how to put my whole reply (don't worry, not THAT long!) into Twitter, and wasn't sure I wanted to. But...

"She'll have a collaborator but wants to write much of it herself for publication a year from now."

Pretty much sounds like her campaign, doesn't it? And look how that worked out. Don't even GO here! :)

I would rather read a biography written by Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. A regular ol' Palin biography kills my soul.

As Jane Yolen would say, Palin is sucking up the available oxygen for real writers trying to get published. BACA off already.

I hear you! I just read in Publishers Lunch that the woman who filed rape charges against Mike Tyson also got signed to write her memoir. I'm floored. I'm astounded. Don't waste trees for these books! Print ours instead!

I think the blog looks good! Sit with it and it can still be altered...Then get back to work.

you're not doing anything wrong, vivian. the book deal is with harpercollins, which is owned by rupert murdoch, who helped fund the republicn campaign.

this isn't a book deal, it's an extended propaganda crusade. the book is scheduled to come out as she's running for re-election in alaska.

while it is sad, i think it's further proof that the publishing industry will be saved by small publishers who are interested in books and don't have this kind of money to throw around for garbage.

I'd like to know who the marketing people targeted to find out who would be interested in reading her biography. Cause it sure as hell isn't me! But then again, I don't understand most of the celebrity books they publish!

No you aren't. It's the low level of modern society, where more energy is put into celebrity culture and electronic mindlessness than anything else. I'll be interested to see how well it sells, though.
