Love in the Air Contest...Interview Prize

I've decided to do a contest in honor of Valentine's Day.

Share a love at first sight or first love story in the comments and I'll enter you in a drawing for an interview (featuring your blog or books) on my blog.  Your interview will be featured in February or early March, depending on a mutually agreed upon schedule.

Deadline is Saturday, February 14th at 11pm EST.

Interested?

Comment away.

Sadly, I don't have any great stories. Though I remember reading somewhere where Patricia Arquette sent Nicholas Cage on a quest to find all these obscure items before she would agree to a date with him. And he did it! That is romantic.

Love at First Sight
Many years ago I was working as a manager at a gym and saw this really nice-looking guy just being nice to everyone. Coming off of months and months of divorce court and custody battles, and feeling quite brazen, I asked him out for a beer. He said no. *HUGE sigh* For the next two weeks, I papered the gym with posters about how beer is good for you after a workout because it's loaded with carbs, etc., etc., and then I asked him again.

Never figured out if it was the beer or me that was irresistible, but he took me up on my offer.

We've been married for 18 years.

M. Thompson,
I remember that story. It is cool.

Nancy,
Love your story! Especially the happy ending!

I think I'm still getting an interview :)
But anyway... first love.
Is there any love quite like that when you see the puppy you know you are going to take home.

OK, I know i cheated here. I doubt you meant canine bonds.

PJ,
Yes! We're still doing an interview! Though, I will now have to send you tough questions for your answer. Especially since my children are trying to convince me that their lives would be so improved with a puppy.

He wore clogs and painter pants and he had a way of walking. Long hair, freckles, he was the real thing. We sat beside each other at a softball game. "Do you want to see my etchings?" he said.

I said yes.

We've been married forever since.

I'm not really a "love at first sight" kind of person. I know this isn't what you had in mind, but the closest I've come is when my little bookworm finally appeared after an all natural, med-free birth in which he was posterior positioned (ouch, my tailbone!) and stuck partially out for FOREVER; I looked down at his perfect little round head, his slimy body, matted hair, grey skin and, even after realizing that he had pooped all over my arm, I fell in love.

Infant Bibliophile,
I agree. There is nothing like the pure love of a child.

Beth,
I'll behave in my comments. Your description makes me swoon.

I posted this just the other day -- the story of my grandparents' courtship. It begins:

At the first teachers' meeting, another teacher and I went up to the superintendent of the schools, and we told him, "You are not doing any of us any good. You hired two football coaches. The first one that you hired is very good looking [but already married], and the other one is so ugly. No one is going to want to go with that teacher."

Chris,
Great story! I'll stop by in a bit.

I'll be e-mailing the winner later this evening for an interview request!

Thanks for all your wonderful stories!
