Writing Inspiration: Visualize Your Goal

Visualize your goal. Keep it front and center. Tell some trusted friends and family about your dream. Print your goal on beautiful paper, frame it and hang it somewhere you will see it everyday. Write a letter about your dreams and mail it to yourself. Put it on your screensaver on your computer.

Do everything possible to keep your goal in the forefront of your mind at all times.

Believe in it.

Live it.

Breathe it.

And if you dare...Look yourself in the eye in the mirror and tell yourself what you're gonna it. Corny. I know. But you have to believe it, see the play by play moves, and get your arms around the nitty gritty details to keep your eye on the pie.

This will help you will search for another way when you bump into a closed door. Or brainstorm for a different way to get your idea heard. So you can recognize when you need to revise things a bit. And. So you will keep your head up high while you are on your Great Adventure. No matter what.

Because.

You have an amazing idea. You are smart enough. You are talented enough.

Just visualize your goal. See all the little steps to get to the big picture.  Work through all the sweat and tears.

You can do it. I believe you can.

Now get to work!

Boy, you are SO on target for me this week! This morning I sent out a very different query (for me) to an agent who wants to know about the writer & ANY projects, not just the one book they might have finished at this point. For the first time, I put a pitch description of the YA historical I'm mulling/brooding on into type and sent it out into the world. I am riding high today just from that!

You're right on target. Things only happen because we make them happen. I really believe this.
Thanks for another inspiring post. Just love your blog!

Great ideas in keeping your goals alive and in sight. Unfortunately, my professional goals have gone on the wayside for holiday goals! Come January, I will be at my writing goals with gusto!

I am reminded of what my voice teacher keeps saying, about how the gesture gives way to the form. My guitar teacher talks about muscle memory, and how practicing things correctly but slowly teaches the muscles to do what they need to do. So, working with one's mind by vocalizing what it is what one needs to do and saying, "You can do it!" may sound corny, but it makes sense in terms of muscle memory.

Thanks for this post!
